Common mistakes
- Counting 182 or 183 days instead of 6 calendar months. A flat day count can land a day or two off from the true calendar half-year mark, especially around February.
- Forgetting month-length rollovers. A birthday on the 31st rolls to the last day of a shorter 6-months-later month.
- Confusing a half birthday with a quarter birthday. A half birthday is exactly 6 months out — a quarter birthday (3 months) is a different, less common milestone.
