This countdown calculator shows a live, second-by-second countdown to any date and time you choose — useful for product launches, weddings, exams, trips, or any deadline you want to keep visible.

Worked example

Setting a target of December 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM shows the live days, hours, minutes, and seconds remaining, updating automatically as time passes without refreshing the page.

Common mistakes

  • Forgetting time zones. The countdown runs on your device's local time — for a global event, convert the target time to your own time zone first.
  • Leaving the time blank for a same-day deadline. Without a time, the countdown targets midnight at the very start of the date, not the end of the day.
  • Closing the tab. The countdown only runs while the page is open — reopening it recalculates from the current time, it doesn't send reminders.

Yes — once you set a target date and time, the countdown updates every second in your browser without needing to refresh the page.

Can I count down to a specific time, not just a date?+

Yes — set both the date and time fields. If you leave the time blank, the countdown targets midnight (the very start) of that date.

What time zone does the countdown use?+

It uses your device's local time zone. If you're counting down to an event in a different time zone, convert the target time to your local time zone first.

What happens after the target date passes?+
