What this calculator does
This calculator projects the exact date you'll reach any target retirement age, based on your date of birth. Use it to set a savings timeline, plan your last working day with your employer, or simply see how far away retirement is.
Worked example
Born on April 14, 1985 and targeting retirement at age 65, your retirement date would fall on April 14, 2050.
Common mistakes
- Assuming 65 is universal. Full retirement age varies by country and birth year — U.S. Social Security, for instance, uses a sliding scale between 66 and 67 for people born from 1943 onward.
- Confusing pension eligibility with employer retirement policy. Some employers allow earlier or later retirement than the state pension age — check your specific plan.
- Not accounting for early-retirement penalties. Retiring before your scheme's standard age often permanently reduces monthly benefit amounts.
