What this calculator does
This calculator estimates the Gregorian date the next Ramadan begins, using a standard arithmetic conversion between the Gregorian and Hijri (Islamic lunar) calendars, and shows how many days remain until then.
Worked example
Counting from September 2, 2026, the next Ramadan is estimated to begin aroundFebruary 8, 2027.
Common mistakes
- Treating the estimate as an official date. Many countries and mosques announce the confirmed start of Ramadan only a day or two in advance, based on moon sighting — always check local announcements closer to the date.
- Assuming the date is fixed year to year. Because the Islamic calendar is lunar, Ramadan shifts about 10-11 days earlier in the Gregorian calendar every year.
- Confusing the start of Ramadan with Eid al-Fitr. Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, roughly 29-30 days after it begins, not the start.
